The education union wants to postpone the new teaching year, whose launch the education ministry has planned and the government has approved it.
From SBASKU, they say they support the government's plan to resume learning, but, according to this union, education institutions still need preparation.
“The participants in this meeting have declared assessments concerning the current situation in educational institutions from the perspective of union leaders. They have stated that educational and technical assistance personnel express the will to start learning in school objects by thus supporting the UN-sponsored master Plan adopted by the Government, but the largest number of participants have expressed concern that schools have not yet been prepared to start the new school year under the pre-emptive conditions for safeguard clauses and the UN plan”, said in the SBASKpeople's communique.
SBASK's full announcement:
Expressing the will and sincere desire for the new school year to begin well and for educational institutions to be fully prepared to meet the guidelines of the Public Health Institute in an effort to preserve the health of students and educational staff of SBASK addressing the Government and the UN with the voice of educational workers for the start of the new school year to be postponed for 10 days.
In order to analyze preparations for the start of the new school year and measures taken by institutions to establish sufficient health safety for students and educational personnel, the SBASK has held a long-term meeting with the leadership, municipal-level heads and Universities, and with members of the Steering Council.
Participants of this meeting have declared assessments concerning the current situation in educational institutions from the perspective of union leaders. They have stated that educational and technical assistance personnel express the will to start learning in school facilities by thus supporting the UN-sponsored master Plan and the government, but the largest number of participants have expressed concern that schools are not yet prepared to start the new school year under pre-emptive conditions for defence measures and the UN plan. By arguing they have mentioned that most schools have not yet been disinfected, teaching rooms have not been equipped with hand disinfectant, no protective masks for educational personnel have been provided, no reserve teachers list has been prepared to replace sick teachers, nor has a call or competition been announced for voluntary teachers, the learning rooms have not been prepared to provide adequate social distance, but other preparations have not been made within school environments.
Other way. The S.K.S.S.S.S.S.S.S.S.S.S.S.S.A. has begun to come up with information that there are trends in one KUK and a school principal who have hygienic and disinfectant tools to provide through parents, whether by collecting money from parents or by bringing disinfectant parents to school. The SBASK is against such initiatives because in this fraught social and economic situation it is not fair to charge even more or to place a part of them in a bad standing in front of others because they cannot be part of this activity, which the SBASK requires to stop and the demand of schools in new circumstances be secured from the additional 9.5 million budget, which the Government of Kosovo has shared.
