Prime Minister Hoti seeks suspension of works affecting Decani Monastery area

The prime minister of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, Avdullah Hoti, has requested that works be suspended on R108 Street, which, in part, affects the particular protected area of the Decani Monastery.
The government statement says that Prime Minister Hoti appreciates the vital importance this road has for citizens on this side and beyond, however, must be respected by the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo legislation, as well as the Constitutional Court's decision.
Given the direct impact of this road on the economy and on the quality of life of residents of the Decani municipality, Prime Minister Hoti supports the review of all legal and practical opportunities on the ground to complete this road linking the Republic of Kosovo with the Republic of Montenegro.
Prime Minister Hoti reiterates the full commitment of the Government and of the people of Kosovo to preserve and respect sacral objects as a common value of the rich spiritual heritage of the Republic of Kosovo.
Prime Minister Hoti's reaction has come a day after Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, announced that Belgrade will seek an urgent and permanent review of construction works in the protected area of the Decani Monastery” by Pristina representatives and European mediators at the upcoming meeting in Brussels.
NATO Mission to Kosovo Commander Michele Ries has also visited Decanin on Saturday and has met with the mayor of this municipality, Bashkim Ramosaj.
Ries and Ramosaj have talked about the overall situation in the special protected area of Decani.
