One of the biggest mysteries is why some people get very sick and even die from this disease until others show symptoms and may not even realize that they are infected.
Scientists already know some of the main factors that increase the risk of complications from COVID-19: Being over 60, overweight, chronic diseases, such as diabetes, chronic diseases such as diabetes, kidney or lung disease, and cancer. At the same time, Africans and Latin Americans are more at risk, according to research.
There is another attitude, however, that certain individuals have a kind of protection against the virus.
According to a newly published study in the newspaper “Nature Reviews Immmuneology”, a large percentage of the population appears to have immune cells, which are able to identify parts of the SARS-Cov-2 virus, and that this gives them priority in fighting infection. In other words, some have a certain degree of protection.
