Prices for serial tests in Kosovo differ from laboratory to laboratory.
In countries of the region, prices for serial testing in some private health institutions range from 17 to 32 euros. In Albania, serial testing costs 32 euros. In Serbia and Montenegro, this kind of testing costs 17 euros.
Serological tests are those that can be proven if a person had a coronary and was done through blood samples.
Meanwhile two of the health institutions licensed in Kosovo for method testing The PCR and the serological testing for coronarys have not yet begun to run these tests, and they do not know what the prices will be.
Labs that are licensed to conduct tests are clinical medical lab “U n BT” in Lipjan, and the medical laboratory of clinical microbiology “Medical & Laboratory Services” in Pristina.
Test PCR determines whether the virus is active by analyzing the strands from the nose and throat.
In Pristina's clinical microbiology lab “Medical & Laboratory Services”, they say they will begin soon with testing PCR, as they are waiting for the material that allows the procedure of this test.
This laboratory, says it is still not known how much prices will be for testing the method PCR and that serology.
Like clinical laboratory “U n BT” in Lipjan has not assigned prices.
Edomond Hajrizi, owner of clinical medical laboratory “U n BT” in Lipjan, told Radio Free Europe on Monday that next week they will start testing.
The infrastructure already exists. We have to make the guitar supply (the material that allows testing procedure) because you can't make supplies without the right, and after we get it, we start with running tests. We have contacts with suppliers, we have agreements and I believe we can start very soon, from next week. That's what we think we take from Germany”, Hayriz said.
Hajrizi has said that within a day they will be able to do up to 200 tests with the method PCR, while serological tests, due to faster procedure, according to him, will be able to do a greater number of tests.
He has made it known that tests for COVID -19 (the disease caused by the Coronavirus), which will be conducted in this laboratory, will be passed on by standards and there's a standardized methodology and these tests that will take place in this laboratory, should be accepted by all countries in the world.
Meanwhile, Minister of Health in Kosovo Armend Zemaj, at a meeting Tuesday with the head of the Kosovo Competition Authority, Valon Prestreshi, asked private labs to establish correct testing prices.
Zemaj called on the Kosovo Competition Authority to monitor the behaviour of these institutions in relation to setting the price of testing services and unable to create monopolies.
Monday's Health Ministry licensed 29 health institutions to conduct tests for COVID-19. However, the ministry warned that these institutions from today, on 11 August, will be inspected by the health inspectorate, to see if they meet the conditions for testing.
