Montenegro has postponed the start of the new school year on 1 October, as health authorities have estimated that the regular start of the school year -- on September 1st -- poses a risk to the health of children, Montenegro's Education Ministry announced.
The decision to delay applies to schools and gardens. Over the next few days, the Institute of Public Health and Representatives of the Education System will announce recommendations on which the method of hosting classes in schools and gardens” will be made, the Ministry of Education announced.
The decision is made at the recommendation of the Institute of Public Health, due to uncertainty with the epidemiological situation, which, officials say, is still complicated.
Due to COVID-19's pandemic, all educational institutions in Montenegro closed on 16 March.
Pre-school institutions started working on June 4th, but following the deterioration of the epidemiological situation, they were again closed on July 1st.
