Richard Greenell, former US ambassador to Germany, has suggested that something like that happened during his National Republican Convention on Wednesday.
When asked about Yerenelli's statement, currently special envoy of the Trump for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Merkel has looked at the journalist and said: “What has he done?”
When the journalist showed that Grenelli said Trump had <x0Maged” Merkel, the German leader, has stopped and said “aha”, and then smiled.
People present at the media conference are starting to laugh at Merkel's laughter.
Then she has refused to comment, saying she does not talk about private conversations.
The two leaders, Merkel and Trump, have had poor warm reports over the four years since the latter has been chosen number one of America.
