German Chancellor Angela Merkel plans to visit French President Emmanuel Macron at his summer residence in the Mediterranean about 20 August, a European diplomat told Reuters today.
The meeting between Macron and Merkel comes after reaching historic agreements for the European Union, under which the alliance will borrow economic recovery from the coronary crisis, and is another sign of renewed Franco-German co-operation.
Some European diplomats show that the resurrected relations between the two most powerful European leaders will bring new impulses to other points of controversy in the EU, such as the issue of digital taxes or American customs.
