Defence Minister Viktor Hrenin ordered that a battalion of tactical ballistic missiles, rockets, non-pilot aircraft units and air defence systems be sent to troops in the Grodno region, which is on the border with Lithuania and Poland, reports returners.
Earlier, Belarus's president, Lukaschenko, ordered the Defence Ministry to monitor carefully the movement of NATO troops in Poland and Lithuania, as well as to deploy troops at the country's western border on full alert, stressing that the situation in this part of the country has escalated, Telegraph broadcast.
Presidential elections were held in Belarus on 9 August, in which, according to official data, Lukashenko won.
After announcing the election results, mass protests erupted in Minsk and other cities in Belarus, in which there was a conflict between demonstrators and police.
According to the Interior Ministry, more than six thousand protesters were arrested during the protests.
