EU MPs urged Russia to refrain from interfering in Belarus. They also condemned the use of force against peaceful protesters and called for an urgent and transparent investigation into all cases of violence against citizens.

According to official data, during the first days after the August 9th elections, over 6,700 people were arrested in Belarus.
