The protest seemed to be even greater than the historic demonstrations that flooded the center of last Sunday when over a hundred thousand people took to the streets.
As evening approached, thousands of protesters marched peacefully around one of Lucashenko's official residences, stopping in front of a heavily armed police line and armoured vehicles.
Lukashenko himself went down to the compound from a helicopter.
In videos published by a social media channel linked to his press service, Lukashenko could be seen by the helicopter, telling the pilot to approach and say: “they have fled like rats”. After landing, he left the helicopter in black and held a rifle, accompanied by his 15 - year - old son.
Massive protests, jubilants came after a week when Lucashenko's government appeared causing doubts among protesters, the Metro newspaper broadcast.
After a brutal attack by security forces the first few days, the protests withdrew to the giant demonstration last weekend. Protests have continued throughout the week, but in smaller numbers.
