The expected Democrat presidential nominated Joe Biden and his newly appointed candidate for the vice presidential post, Senator Kamala Harris, made the first presentation together Wednesday, while these rivals in the preliminary elections of the Democrats sought to strengthen their supremacy over President Donald Trump and secure their country in American history.

Beden, a 77-year-old white man, placed emphasis on naming the first colored woman in the presidential double of a large party, but also focused on other properties Mrs. Harris brings to the campaign. He highly praised the senator from California, the former 55-year-old prosecutor, who a year ago challenged Biden in one of the debates. He named Mrs. Harris the right woman to help him defeat President Trump and then run the country facing a triple crisis: pandemic, damaged economy and systematic racism.

Mrs. Harris, daughter of immigrants from India and Jamaica, sat away from Biden, listening with his mask removed. Following him, Mrs. Harris said he was honored by the responsibility given to him and “willing to work”. She also said it is “aware of the sacrifices, determination and resistance of all ambitious women before me, which make my presence here today” possible. She then launched an attack on President Trump, sharply criticising him for lack of leadership during the coronary pandemic.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris said at Wilmington, Delauer, that they will work “together to revive the nation's soul and fight for families working to move the country forward to”. Prior to their appearance at the Alexis Dupont Middle School on Wednesday afternoon, several residents of Delauer included many members of the University Association of Mrs. Harris's College Girls, Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA), dressed in the group's uniform, had come to witness their support. “We are going out to support this particular experience”, American Voice Melanie Daniels, member of the AKA group dressed in pink uniform outside high school, told the Voice of America.

“As Delauer's resident and high school graduate Alexis Dupont, class of '88', this is a wonderful moment for all of us,” added her colleague, Shealese Russell-Reams, who was completely green dressed. Both women were among the dozens of supporters who stopped at lunchtime hoping to see Mr. Biden and Mrs. Harris enter high school, where a virtual fundraising campaign would be organised later Wednesday afternoon.

Before the exit, Mr. Biden said he chose Mrs. Harris, because if elected on November 3rd, she's willing to lead from day one.” Beden officially appointed Mrs. Harris as his co-president Tuesday, making him the first colored woman and the first Asian-American woman to be appointed to such a position by a key party to the presidential election. I have the great honour of announcing that I have chosen Kamala Harris a fearless warrior for the impossible and one of the most dedicated individuals to public service in the country as my vice presidential candidate,” said Mr. Biden through Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.

After winning the necessary votes in the preliminary elections to ensure the appointment earlier this year, Biden, 77, committed to choosing a candidate for vice president. There was much speculation that he would choose a colored woman to run with him. A number of known and respected names appeared in the press as potential candidates. But Biden and Harris have a long friendship that starts since she was a general prosecutor in California at the same time that Mr. Biden's late son, Beau Biden, was a general prosecutor in Delauer.

She worked closely with Beau. I watched as they prosecuted powerful banks, raised the morale of people working and protecting women and children from abuse, “Joe Biden on Twitter Tuesday. I was proud then and proud to have him as my partner in this campaign.” Harris made sharp criticism of her rival during debates in the preliminary elections, but had high marks for Mr. Biden during a campaign event several weeks ago, before receiving the appointment. “Joe has compassion, he has a proven leadership experience, and more than ever, we need a U.S. president who understands people, sees their troubles, and has a literal desire to help, and knows how to fight to get to where we should be, Harris said.

Harris, aged 55, was born in Oakland, California. She's an immigrant girl, her father's from Jamaica and his mother from India. She graduated from the University of California, Hastings Law College, and began working as a law attorney for San Francisco in 2003 and a general prosecutor of California in 2010. Harris came to Washington less than four years ago as a Democrat senator from California. In its 2020 presidential campaign, Harris was briefly leading in the race for Democrats after his success in the first debates. Her criticism of Mr. Biden's opposition to a policy ordered by the court to achieve racial balance in public schools strained their relationship.

But Mrs. Harris' general stance as a centre's politician in early debates, including her support for the order forces as a general prosecutor, failed to get support from the progressers and liberals, leading her to exit the presidential race before the first vote. Some Democrats accused him of not understanding the issue of police violence enough... questions that will arise again amid nationwide protests against police brutality against Africans and colored people.

Other women, whom Mr. Biden considered a candidate, supported the election of Mrs. Harris on Tuesday.” Senator Harris is a clear and courageous leader who will be an excellent partner in the campaign,” said Susan Rice, former national security adviser and former American ambassador to the UN. Lawmaker Karen Bass, who heads a group of Africans in Congress, called Mrs. Harris a excellent “selection”.

Former President Barack Obama was among the other prominent Democrats who welcomed Mrs. Harris' choice. I know Senator Kamala Harris for a long time. She's prepared for the job. She built her career defending our Constitution and fighting for people who need justice. This is a good day for our country. Now let's fight to win the” race, Mr Obama said on Twitter Tuesday. Democrat lawmaker Raja Krishnamorth, born in New Delhi, said on Twitter: “Despite your political beliefs, her choice means so much about the progress our country has made since the contestal double of a main party now includes a black and Asian-American woman”.

President Trump said Tuesday he was the surprised “” that Mr. Biden chose Mrs. Harris. “I was very surprised because she made a poor presentation, many people did much better than she did in debates on the preliminary elections,” said President Trump. Harris is the third woman to run as vice president representing a leading party. Democrat representative Geraldie Ferraro was co- lording with Walter Mondale in 1984 when they lost deep to Republicans Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. Former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin competed with Republican John McCain in 2008 but lost to the Democrats Obama and Biden. / VOA
