The leader of the Lebanese extremist organisation Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, has threatened to destroy Israel with a major explosion at the port of Haifa, where large ammonia tanks are placed.
The pro-Iranian Shiit Hezbollah has also reportedly sought to supply ammoum nitrates across Syria since 2009 and penetrate the Lebanese Agriculture Ministry to achieve this, Israeli media reported, citing the content of diplomatic telegrams.
Store images with such threats appeared on social networks after yesterday's major explosion at the port of Beirut, in which at least 113 people were killed and more than 4,000 were injured, while hundreds were considered missing.
In February 2016, Nasrallah said Haifa had 15,000 tonnes of ammonia available and that tens of thousands of people could die in case of an explosion.
In other words, Lebanon has a nuclear bomb. This is not an exaggeration”, Nasrallah said, referring to the video, adding that Hezbollah refrained from causing such an explosion in the month-long war against the Israeli Army in 2006.
The video was released after yesterday's explosion, when it became clear that the Ammonites ' nitrate, which led to the explosion, had been stored in the port of Beirut for years.
Israel's Environment Protection Ministry announced in 2017 that it will no longer fill the ammonia reservoir at Haifa on the Mediterranean coast, as it poses a serious threat to public health, especially in light of the terrorist threat.
