US President Donald Trump during an interview today has entered a fierce debate with an American journalist, severely challenging the number of deaths related to pandemic as percentages of the population.
The exchange of views followed as an integral part of the American president's efforts to reduce the severity of pandemic in the United States, although his health experts are increasingly warning of a terrible infection.
Trump claimed that the United States has the lowest number in numerous Corleone data categories.
In an interview for the Axios portal, which is aired by HBO, Trump said that the U.S. actually has the smallest “> ” in the world in many categories, even though the country has recorded 150,000 deaths, more than any country so far.
Journalist Jonathan Swan has repeatedly tried to restore the conversation on the subject of “death as a percentage of the total population”, which he says the US is facing serious problems.
“You cannot do this,” replied Trump, producing documents with official data.
Trump preferred to focus on death records on the number of cases of infection, which helps avoid the question of whether the U.S. has a large number of infections.
“You are not reporting properly,” insisted President Trump, who advocates the theory that the US has done many tests, and that's why the infection figures are so high. His experts also oppose this topic.
The country suffered a drop in deaths related to COVID-19 at the beginning of summer, but numbers rose again. Over 1,000 deaths a day have been recorded each day in recent weeks.
