The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has not yet decided how to start teaching in September. However, Gjilan municipality chairman Lutfi Haziri has said that online education cannot be built, since there is no technological capacity.
Haziri has said the education sector is one of the highest priorities of the municipality he leads with.
“in addition to preventing the spread of COVID-19, the Gjilan municipality has a top priority this week, which comes from meeting with Prime Minister Hoti and municipal representatives: the media communiqué says.
Gjilan leader Lutfi Haziri has said on Wednesday that the three options of the KASI are being seriously considered, but has added it is not their responsibility which of these options should be implemented, for normalisation of the education system.
“I remain committed that education should be normalised with regular attendance at school, but the mode must be found to prevent the spread of infection. It is unstable to claim that we can build online education in our Republic, without any capacity, experience and technological opportunities. Even so, the education system in Kosovo on the Plain of PISAʹ assessment is very bad, and the pandemic can exacerbate”, Haziri has said.
He has stressed that educators, parents, students and municipal institutions should mobilise to find the best way, so that the employment test, student registration and the start of the school can be normalised in pandemic conditions.
