funeral instead of wedding: The nurse has become a symbol of the tragedy in Beirut

Sahar Faras, a 24-year-old nurse, has become a symbol of the disaster that occurred in Beirut. She was among the dead firefighters in the blasts that occurred in the Lebanese capital, where her family and fiancé prepared a “dasme” for her never to be there. Everything became exactly as in [...]
Everything happened exactly as it does at Lebanese weddings, only this time the bride was in the coffin. Musicians in ceremonial gold garments played as firemen held a coffin on their shoulders while family members threw pink petals and rice.
Her fiancé, Gilbert Karaan, was carried on his shoulders as he greeted his girlfriend in tears, broadcasts Telegragraphy.
Whatever you want will be done, but you alone will not be in the white veil. You have broken my heart, my love. Life has no taste since you've left”, it wrote Karaan on the social media before the ceremony.
Sahar called her fiancé Tuesday to tell about the large fire that broke out in the seaport. Since no one needed medical help at the time, she was sitting in the truck watching her colleagues struggle with fire. As the fire grew, she left the truck to tell her fiancé better about what was happening. She told him that she heard strange sounds that she had never heard before. The fiancé begged her to stay away, which she did, but it was too late. A huge explosion followed, writes NY Times.
My beautiful “Our wedding would take place on June 6, 2021. Instead it'll be tomorrow. I have loved you, I love you, and I will always love you. Until I rejoin you and continue our joint journey”, he wrote further.
The sadness over Sahares' tragic fate was expressed in social media from around the world, calling him a Lebanese bride.
