Southwaterers are so afraid of coronary infection that many of them have placed banknotes in microwave ovens or washing machines for the past six months, in an effort to clean up “” completely choreographer.
The Central Bank of South Korea announced on Friday that residents had replaced three times as many bank notes damaged in the past six months as in the same period last year, and most are believed to have been destroyed in an attempt to disinfect banknotes in a totally inappropriate way in microwaves or washing machines.
A central bank official told Reuters that the total value of damaged bills returned to the bank between January and June after being burned in microwave ovens or left in washing machines is $1.32 billion late or about $1.1m.
By comparison, over the same period last year, customers returned to banks 480 million late or $400,000.
The statement says that the bank was obliged to destroy bank notes worth 2.69 billion late in the first half of 2020.
As an extreme example of money laundering, the bank cited the case of a client, whom officials called Um. He arrived at the bank to replace 35.5 million late, who had completely washed them in the washing machine. The bank managed to replace only 22.9 million late, which means it lost 35 percent of the money saved.
The second case is about a person they called Kim. It placed 5.2 million late in the microwave for complete sterilization. However, the damage was not too great, so the bank replaced most of the bills.
The bank informed the public in March that all the bills that arrive at the institution each day spend two weeks in a type of cakranine. Only then do they go further into circulation.
As part of the fight against the coronary, part of the bank notes are burned as a precaution and replaced by new ones. / KP
