The capital of Lebanon was hit yesterday by a powerful explosion thought to be the result of chemicals found in the city's port.
The blast left over 100 people dead and over four thousand wounded.
The Lebanese government has declared 3 days of mourning as the blast has reportedly managed to destroy homes up to three kilometers from the site where the explosion occurred, while the noise has been heard in more than 200 kilometers from Leban, reports AlJazeera, broadcasts Kosovo.
The Bayrut port includes about 80% of Lebanon's import, is the main artery of the economy, for food, medicine, everything. So the damage is massive in every sector” says Mark Daow of the American University of Beirut.
The Lebanese government has promised the victims' families justice for what happened.
“What happened today will not pass without responsibility. The responsible will pay the price for what happened. This is a promise to the victims and injured”, said Lebanon Prime Minister Hassan Diabb.
