The World Health Organization (OBSH) has called for assistance worth $15 million to cover Lebanon's urgent medical costs after the devastating explosion, amid a serious economic and health crisis caused by the pandemic of the coronavirus, it transmits Telegrafi.
The explosion in Beirut destroyed, among other things, 17 containers with WHO medical equipment, including protective ones.
Five Beirut hospitals in the area affected by the blast don't work at all, and according to preliminary reports, a significant number of primary care clinics have been destroyed.
O The BSH claims that due to hospital injuries, the total number of hospital beds in Beirut has decreased by 500.
Up to 300 thousand people were homeless, including over 100,000 children, and they urgently need housing and food.
O BSH is concerned that this situation can contribute to the faster spread of COVID-19.
