French police continue to arrest smugglers who illegally pass immigrants to Great Britain. Recently a 54-year-old from London named Wayne Mills has fallen into handcuffs.
According to foreign media, Mills is the third person to fall into shackles because he was caught in an attempt to transport 5 Albanians to Great Britain.
Coast Guard have said they are responding to numerous incidents that take place in Kent with illegal immigrants who pay too much attention to travel to Britain, even risking their lives.
Border Forces ships Seeker and Spedwell have also been active since the early hours of Friday morning. In French waters authorities saved more than 40 immigrants, including six children and two disabled persons.
At least 202 immigrants managed to pass through Britain on Thursday, record persons on one day.
The National Crime Agency (NCA) announced today that Mills was sentenced to four years in prison and banned from entering France for 10 years.
Two other people, one of whom is British, were convicted earlier and imprisoned in France after being arrested as they prepared to leave the French port of Cherbourg on June 27th on a small ship of five Albanian immigrants aboard. The man running the boat, Joshua Van Praagh, 25, was imprisoned for three years and was prevented from returning to France for 10 years. Albanian Armando Hodo 25 was also imprisoned for three years and was also prevented from entering France.
