Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, said the United States has not abandoned talks on Kosovo and that it expects even more powerful American commitment to the issue.
Speaking of negotiations between Kosovo and the series, which will continue on Thursday in Brussels at the expert level, Vuciq told Serbia's Radio-Television that Serbia's <x0est) room for maneuvering will be reduced”.
We don't oppose Albanians there. It's like talking to Albanians, or representatives of the European Union and the United States. They think alike and all want independent Kosovo”, Vuciq said.
“At some point we'll be under pressure, but let me, I'm a political veteran, I know what the consequences are for me, but I'll protect the country, not myself”, he said.
Last week, Vuciq and Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti have met in Brussels with the management of senior EU representatives.
It has been this first direct meeting between representatives of Kosovo and Serbia since the end of 2018.
At that world, talks on normalising relations between the two countries have been interrupted due to a tax Kosovo has imposed on imported products from Serbia.
The tax, meanwhile, has been replaced with reciprocity measures, but the latter have been removed with the coming of the ruling Hoti in early June to pave the way, as it has been said, continuing dialogue.
A meeting between Kosovo and Serbia, originally held at the White House at the end of June, under the organisation of the US envoy for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Richard Green, has not been held, as the Special Prosecutor in The Hague has announced that he has filed a war crimes indictment against Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, who was to attend that meeting.
Green has warned of organising another similar meeting, but has not given any concrete date.
