Numerous high profile accounts on Twitter have been hacked on Wednesday as is US Democrat candidate for president Joe Biden, star Kim Kardashian, former US President Barack Obama, billionaire Elon Musk.m. Jeff Bezos. Accounts were used to search for digital currency (bitcoin).
The root posts, most of which have been erased, were extinguished by dozens of accounts offering to return $2000 for a thousand dollars sent to an anonymous Bitcoin address.
In view of the seriousness of the problem, Twitter warned that more than 166 million daily users may not be able to tweet or restore their passwords until the company addressed security violations.
Twitter said it closed the accounts affected once informed of revenge, removed tweets posted by “attackers” and prevented publishing messages from verified accounts.
Confirmed users include celebrities, journalists and news agencies, as well as government officials, politicians, heads of state and emergency services.
Twitter informed them that the user's approach to their accounts will be allowed only when security is restored.
