When will the testing of an anti-Cavid-19 vaccine begin in Switzerland

The Swiss Tropical Institute and Public Health (Swiss TPH) in Basel is closely monitoring the race for a coronary vaccine. Chief Jürg Utzinger believes it is realistic that a vaccine will be made available to the general public next summer. There are international guidelines to follow. There are international guidelines to follow. Ethically, technically and scientifically, this should be absolutely perfect”, says Utzinger for strt.ch, conveys albinfo.ch.
About 20 vaccines have already been tested on humans. For example, the one from Modernna Company. Initial results show that vaccinated participants often developed even more antibodies than people who actually had the virus. However, because of the brief study period, it is not clear whether and how much time antibodies can actually protect against a coronary infection.
At the end of the summer, this potential vaccine will also be tested on people in Switzerland. Six university centres in all parts of the country want to conduct clinical tests on more than 12,000 volunteers for the new Moderna vaccination.
But how fast can a vaccine be released?
The Swiss approval agency says that if necessary, the approval procedure for a significant vaccine can be adjusted.
We can allow vaccines for a limited time and expect additional data to be checked later. Or we can allow accelerated approval if the security, efficiency and quality evidence has already been fully secured”, explains Claus Bolte, Swissmedic approval chief.
Besides, there's only partly a vaccine approval. For example, for certain age groups or population groups with or without previous diseases.

Other countries in the world are also working for an anti-Convid-19 vaccine.
The race for a vaccine is continuing at a fast pace. The outcome of this race is still completely open.
