Spain conducted state-run homazhes for the victims of the Coronavirus at a state ceremony attended by King Felipe VI and other high-level guests. The ceremony took place the day before the start of the EU summit.
The special ceremony in Madrid was held to commemorate the more than 28,000 victims of the coronary. The honours were held in Spanish capital's “Armory” Square with the participation of about 400 guests.
The Spanish government announced earlier that the ceremony is also held to honour health workers who lost their lives in dealing with the virus, and those who continue to serve patients, report in Ora News.
Spain is one of the worst hit countries in Europe by the coronary pandemic. Last month, the country lifted restrictions imposed on preventing the spread of the virus, but new sites have now begun to appear. The cause is suspected of opening tourism and allowing tourists to the islands of the country.
Among the guests was European Commission President Ursula von der Leeyen, European Parliament President David Susssol, European Council President Charles Michel, head of O BH Tedros Adhanom Ghebrès and Secretary General NATO Jens Stoltenberg.
Many relatives of the victims also attended, as well as representatives of key economic sectors.
