Sentenced on Dedicated for Participation in Syria Wars

The Special Department of the Foundation Court in Pristina on Thursday has sentenced him to two years in prison on condition of involvement in Syria's wars, Melihate Alshiqi. The Special Department of the Foundation Court in Pristina on Thursday has sentenced him to two years in prison on condition of involvement in Syria's wars, Melihate Alshiqi.

Under the trial pronounced by Judge Musa Kondzhel, the accused will not hold the sentence of prison if, within the two-year term, he does not commit another criminal act, reports “Justice Vowift”.

Judge Kondzhel stated that the court has requalified criminal work, from “Bashim or military participation or foreign police participation, in paramilitary or pre-police foreign formations, in group organisation or individually outside the territory of the Republic of Kosovo”, from Article 3, paragraph 3 of the Law to prevent joining armed conflicts outside the country's territory. 05 L-052, in criminal work “Organisation and terrorist group participation”, namely paragraph 2 of Article 143 of the Kosovo Criminal Code.

Under the indictment, the accused was acquitted of the procedure's expenses.

By contrast, at the June 30, 2020, session, the accused had said that she had gone to Syria, along with her child, after being deceived by her late husband. According to the indictment filed by the SPRK, Melihate Alshiqi is charged on July 12, 2015, along with her late husband, Bekim Mulli and their child of a year and a half, knowingly and willly, has passed through the border point of Elez Khan and has ended up at a foreign destination in the area of conflict in Syria.

The PSRK claims the accused Alshiqi has taken these actions in order to attach itself to terrorist groups “ISIS” and “Al-Nusra”, which operate in Syria and Iraq, where it has stayed until its return to Kosovo on April 20th, 2019.
