In Kosovo, among the health workers who have been infected with the new coronary, there are eight doctors anesthesiologists and 30 anesthesiology clinic nurses and intensive treatment within the Kosovo University Clinical Centre (QKUK).
Nehat Battiu, director of the CKUK anesthesiology clinic, told Radio Europe free that this health - care profile is in direct contact with infected patients, so according to him, that's why the high number of anesthesiologists, but also nurses infected with the new coronary, which causes COVID-19.
THE entire body of anesthesiology and intensive medication should be close to the patient's face and normally infected at the workplace. The work with emergency interventions has been halted and we are oriented to patients with COVID-19, in four clinics: infectious, sports medicine, intensive central and other treatment, where patients are being treated with COVID-1950, Baftiu said.
The University Clinical Centre of Kosovo, as well as all regional hospitals, has been facing a lack of anesthesiologists in recent years.
On July 1st, Kosovo Hospital Service and University Clinic Director Valbon Krasniqi has told Radio Free Europe that “the effect of a high number of health personnel could pose a serious challenge in treating patients”.
In Kosovo, there are also about 500 health professionals, 160 of whom are doctors.
The chairman of the Federation of Health Union, Blerim Syla, announced that the current situation is quite alarming, as he says, the number of staff within the public health system is lower than the needs the clinics are dealing with patients with COVID-19.
The situation is changing from day to day. There are up to 500 infected health workers. We've been waiting to hire new doctors and nurses so the system doesn't collapse. On the contrary, if this continues, and the infection of health workers continues, and we already have a case of doctor's death then we will have trouble, Syla said.
On Tuesday, the Kosovo Hospital Service and University Clinic (SHSKUK) has announced that at the University Clinical Centre (QKUK) and in general regional hospitals 541 patients, of which 291 are confirmed cases with COVID-19, while 250 are still pending confirmation.
The report points out that there are 16 cases of respiratory treatment, while 295 patients have oxygen therapy.
Since mid-March, the total number of infected people in Kosovo has reached 6,045.
Active cases of the new choreography currently number 2,675.
