Presidency: Restart of technical dialogue not in Kosovo's interest

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci's cabinet chief, at the same time president's top political adviser, Bekim Colak, says the goal of dialogue with Serbia should be the final agreement with mutual recognition, not the resumption of a European Union-led technical dialogue.
The abolition of the EU-led technical dialogue is not in Kosovo's interest. It is designed to justify opening more chapters for Serbia's EU accession, while leaving Kosovo isolated and at the status quo. The goal should be final political agreement with mutual recognition”, Colak said through a post on the social Twitter network.
Colak's reaction comes after 17 July, Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti met in Brussels with Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq in the EU-brokered dialogue.
After that, Brussels warned that dialogue on the technical level between Kosovo and Serbia will resume on Wednesday, July 22nd, broadcast Radio Free Europe.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Hoti after the Brussels meeting that Kosovo and Serbia are very close to reaching the final agreement.
“We are in the final phase of closing the final agreement with Serbia”, Hoti said, adding that missing persons and the economy have spoken at this meeting.
Otherwise, Hoti when asked in Brussels by journalists if there is co-ordination with President Thaci for dialogue, said:
“I represent Kosovo in the dialogue process with Serbia, along with coalition partners, keeping the entire political spectrum in Kosovo fully informed”.
The July 17th meeting, which came after 20 months of interruption of Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, was criticised by opposition parties in Kosovo.
Protagonist's Uneven Power in Dialogue
The Vetevendosje Movement and the Democratic Party of Kosovo said Prime Minister Hoti is not prepared for dialogue and that there is neither platform nor team for this process.
Arberie Nagavci from the largest opposition party, Vetevendosje Movement has told Radio Free Europe that Hoti is not prepared for the dialogue process with Serbia.
“Hot, for this is neither prepared nor there is a platform, a team and so on, and there is no legitimacy in the country either. Nor does he have the power in the framework of his ruling coalition, but neither does it in relation to the entire political spectrum, including the opposition”, Nagavci points out.
Meanwhile, Democratic Party of Kosovo deputy Enver Hoxhaj said that Prime Minister Hoti, after according to him, the process has uncertainty, as well as the prime minister has no necessary political and institutional support.
“We are against the approach and way the Kosovo government has started the dialogue. The first two days' meeting showed that Kosovo and the Kosovo government are neither politically prepared nor container for such a process. It has entered the platformless dialogue, without strategy, without consensus, without co-ordination, without experience in this process and without any expert”, Hoxhaj said.
Hoxhaj added that after 15 years, of closing the topic of Serb displaced people, at the Hoti-Vucciq meeting, this topic returned.
Is there hope in 20 years? Undiscovered, Dialogue Subject in Brussels
Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, who has so far led the dialogue on behalf of Kosovo, was committed to the process of dialogue being passed into the hands of the United States of America, because, as he had said, Brussels has lost credibility in this process, but also in reports with Kosovo.
In reports between Kosovo and Serbia, since last year, US President Richard Green has been included, as well as the US envoy Richard Green, who has so far been able to secure three agreements on paper for the deployment of airlines and railways, as well as the Pristina-Belgrade highway.
The representation of EU left technical dialogue is not in Kosovo. It is designed to justify more access spaces for Serbia while leaving Kosovo isolated under the current status quo. The aim should be a final political deal with the mutual relationship.
