Co-ordinator's position for dialogue is seen as unnecessary, impossible political unification without Thaci

Hyseni's election has been formalised today by the Kosovo government through a media communiqué, writes news.net.

Hyseni's selection in this position is said to be based on the platform for dialogue, as well as its functions will be aimed at institutional and international co-ordination for dialogue.

“Based on the Government of the Republic of Kosovo platform for dialogue with Serbia, in support of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo's decision of July 1, 2020, with the goal of organising and international co-ordination of this process, Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti has today named Skender Hysenin State Coordinator for Dialog”, the report said.

But does Hoti's choice as the dialogue process help co-ordinator, and does it contribute to unifying the political scene in this process in front of Serbia?

Analyst Blerim Burjani of news.net says Hyseni has been appointed co-ordinator for not being unemployed.

“The co-ordinator was an experienced translator from the time of Ibrahim Rugova, who had the role of Rugova's translator, then had taken the post of foreign minister and earlier at such co-ordinator posts was an inferno and one who was not aware of what profession was similar to Ramush's definition as usual and with a non-Serb approach at all. Now there is a translator-ordinator who has been appointed not to remain unemployed. Now there is no MPJ minister because it's due to the post of Ramushi a man and there's nothing here”, Buryan told the news.net.

Furthermore, he says that professionalism in the current government and, according to him, is not serious about Kosovo's approach to dialogue with Serbia and sees the co-ordinator's position for dialogue unnecessary.

“Sʹka professionalism, Hoti has said there will be experts on his team with this approach he will have employed party people but will not be useful for the coming time, so Kosovo's failure in dialogue with Serbia as was the currency, association of Serbian municipalities and other things, so there is an inadequate approach, not serious on this subject. Kosovo does not need co-ordinator positions in this way because it would be good for the prime minister to have expert teams, but not such co-ordinator positions enough to employ someone”, Burjani said.

In the end, Burjan says there will be no unity of the political scene in Kosovo, unless Thaci is on the negotiating team where the Democratic Party of Kosovo vote can be counted.

“Uni won't happen. Only if Thaci is on a negotiating team can the PDK vote be counted in the future, in the event of an eventual agreement with Serbia”, Burjani said.

And when we are with President Thaci, he has welcomed the appointment of former Kosovo diplomat Skender Hyseni to the post of state co-ordinator for dialogue.

Thaci expresses confidence in Hyseni's experience in politics, and according to him, he has a mandate to negotiate the final political agreement between Kosovo and Serbia.

I am convinced that with his commitment and efforts, Mr. Hyseni will manage to build the necessary political consensus between the position and opposition to the benefit of the Republic of Kosovo”, Thaci writes.

Currently, dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia is being mediated by the European Union following the failure of Washington's meeting on June 27th as a consequence of publishing the indictment against Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and Democratic Party of Kosovo leader Kadri Veselin.

Now when meetings between Kosovo and Serbia have begun after a long time, the current government in Kosovo is seen as powerless to lead this process. The role of state co-ordinator Skender Hyseni in dialogue with Serbia remains to be seen.
