Marigona Haziri, a nurse at the Infectious Clinic in Pristina, was forced to stay three months in a rented residence away from the parents with whom she lives, fearing that she might be infected with coronarys and carry it to her family.
She has now begun to travel to Vushtrri where she comes from, but says fear continues to be present.
“Virus is not a lie. I'm seeing comments on social networks saying that, but no, it's not. If they see the situation at the infectious clinic as we staff see it, I believe every citizen would respect the safeguard clause and be guarded by this virus”, she says.
In a story about Radio Free Europe, Haziri explains the difficulties he is facing to save the lives of patients infected with the virus for four months now.
Haziri, who three years ago began the nurse's profession at the Infectious Clinic at the University Clinical Centre in Pristina, says they have never faced such a situation that the coronary has caused.
A typical normal day at the Infectious Clinic is calmer, but now we have a lot of work in the pandemic. 7:00 a.m. begins the day shift until 7:00 p.m. Today (June 2nd) I came (infective Clinic) at 7: 00 a.m., to patients I entered at 7:30, and I was dressed in clothes until 2: 00 p.m. because of the many jobs”.
The large number of hospital patients, said nurse Marigona Haziri, causes work to be done over and over again.
Because of overloaded hospital patients we're obliged to be wearing those clothes that protect you from coronary up to 7 hours without eating or drinking, so isolated”, she says.
Now it's 1500, just before I ate bread from yesterday”, Haziri added.
The first coronavirus cases, Kosovo has marked them on March 13th. By 3 July, the number of Coronvirus affected in Kosovo has reached 3.064 and 55 people have lost their lives.
After increasing the number of new coronary cases in recent weeks, the situation at the Infective Clinic in Pristina is extremely heavy and the clinic's capacities are almost full. The number of hospitals at the Infectious Clinic has begun to rise since the beginning of June, when the third phase of the relief of anti - coronary measures has begun.
On July 2nd, the Infectious Clinic has seen over 100 patients.
Marigona Haziri says working at the Infectious Clinic every day is becoming more difficult, but this does not stop nurses and all health personnel from fighting the virus.
The “is very difficult, but with work and commitment not only from me, but the entire infectious clinic staff we have a big commitment, and we have reasons to work on these cases and we're never getting tired of”, she says.
Nurse salaries in Kosovo are consistently considered low. A nurse's salary in Kosovo is about 400 euros a month.
During the pandemic time, the Government of Kosovo had decided that all health staff would share a sum of 300 euros for two months (April May) as a reward for their work.
And the number of health workers in Kosovo infected with coronarys, which causes Covid-19, by June 30th, has reached 160. In addition, 500 health workers are standing in isolation, they have confirmed to Radio Free Europe, officials from the International Health Federation.
