North Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui issued a statement following former national security adviser John Bolton's comments to reporters in New York earlier this week that President Donald Trump could hold another summit with Korean leader Kim Jong Un as a <x0 press manager October” shortly before the November presidential elections.
“Is it possible to have dialogue or relations with the United States, a country that continues hostile policy towards North Korea and does not respect the already reached agreements at the last meeting?” Deputy Foreign Minister Choi's statement says.
South Korean President Moon Yae, who has been working intensively to revive negotiations between Washington and Pyongyang, voiced optimism in a video conference with European leaders, as well this week, that President Trump and Korean leader Kim would meet again before the elections.
President Trump and Korean leader Kim have met three times since 2018 to discuss North Korea's nuclear disarmament, but negotiations were interrupted after their second summit in Vietnam in February 2019, in which the United States rejected North Korea's demands for considerable sanctions relief as a condition to give up partially nuclear ambitions. /voa
