The decline of exports to exports this year, Albania's ambassador to Kosovo, Kemal Minxhozi, sees it as a consequence of the pandemic, until it has denied that trade barriers are visible.
Between Kosovo and Albania, there have been reduced trade exchanges around 40 per cent in the last period.
Until last year trade exchanges between these two Albanian states have been more than 300m euros.
This drop in exports, according to Albania's ambassador to Kosovo, Kemal Minxhozi is due to pandemic, until he has not denied that trade barriers are also evident between these two states.
Ambassador Kemal Minxhozi says in an interview for Kosova Preiss, that Albania has had two very big problems -- one with the earthquake, and the other with Covid-19 -- and naturally these have influenced the reduction of these exchanges, because the focus has been elsewhere.
But neither has Kosovo. Economic development rates like in Kosovo, as in Albania, have undergone a decline during this period. Businesses have been communicating as much as they can in a war situation, because many of the businesses have been closed in both Albania and Kosovo, and these businesses have affected the percentage or scale of these exchanges. Up until a month ago from Kosovo and Albania had basic goods swaps. The problem is that even what our two countries have had to offer during this entire period of export-import have been in reduced measure. This isn't about barriers, but this is about the situation we just talked about. What's obvious is that compared to last year there was a drop of about 30 to 40 percent, exchanges between us”, Minxhozi claims.
According to the ambassador last year, there has been a positive balance of some 300m euros between Albania and Kosovo, which has been the largest amount of exchanges.
We're still not satisfied, because there's still more. We are urging authorities here and Albania to eliminate some barriers that are possible to be done. The barrier will always be in the sense of this bureaucracy, but the point is that we make them as smooth as possible so that they can be as far above”, he said.
Ambassador Minxhozi has also talked about tourism, which shows that the influx of vacationers from Kosovo to Albania has increased in recent days.
He says the number of vacationers from Kosovo has reached over 40 thousand, and suggests that Albania's authorities are ready for measures taken against corruption and health care of tourists.
