The king, who has dominated the world's largest oil exporter and the U.S. major ally since 2015, is currently conducting several medical tests, the state news agency SPA added, without providing additional details.
Following the news, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Qaeda printed a planned visit to Saudi Arabia, Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud said.
King Salman, the guardian of the Islamic holy sites, has spent more than two and a half years as prince of the Saudi crown and as deputy prince in June 2012, before he became king.
