German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas warned today that a massacre like that in Srebrenica in Bosnia, 25 years ago, should no longer be repeated.
“We all agree that Srebrenica should never be repeated”, Maas said commemorating the 25th anniversary of the massacre against 8,000 Muslim men and boys from the Serbian forces, which began in the eastern Bosnian town of July 11th 1995, the ATS reports.
” The murders occurred at the end of the 20th century, in the middle of Europe, almost in the public's eyes”, Maas stressed.
“We must oppose nationalist tendencies wherever we face”, he said.
The Srebrenica massacre that took place during the Bosnian War (1992-1995) is considered the first genocide in Europe since 1945.
