German Bundesful in collaboration with the University of Veterinary Medicine ( You in Hanover are developing a ten-foot test project. The dogs involved in the experiment belong to the German Army dog school located near Ulmen.
According to Bundeswehre reports on the project, there are cases of pastor, Spaniel and retrier races involved. Detective dogs can not only smell and discover from the molecular composition of corresponding explosives or drugs but also smell different types of cancer as well as hypoglychemia - sugar loss in the case of diabetes. This ability is also based on the coronary project.
Researchers have already reached a diagnosis quota of about 80 per cent, and the project appears to be successful. Final results are expected to be available in several weeks.
So far, dogs are being trained to sniff samples of saliva on infected people. However, viruses whose samples are treated with chemicals and are harmless. After dogs have completed this series of tests successfully, they will face the next degree of difficulty to see will the smell of active coronary viruses work in the case of genes in human saliva? These tests must be conducted under completely different conditions, which, after all, we must be sure that no one will be infected with very infectious samples,” explains Paula Jendry.
In other countries, such as the US, Finland and Great Britain, dogs are being trained to smell Sars infections- COV-2. In addition to saliva samples, there are urine and sweat tests showing encouraging results. / DW
