European Union leaders continue their summit today, convinced that they are close to reaching the EU budget agreement and the recovery fund following the Washington-19 pandemic crisis, an EU official has indicated.
On Saturday evening, leaders of EU member states were still far from reaching an agreement, but some of them indicated that negotiations were going in the right direction, despite high tensions after months of facing pandemic.
The EU talks on an economic recovery plan aimed at easing the effects of the coronary pandemic will continue on Sunday, said Barend Leyts, spokesperson for the European Council's president.
On Friday, EU leaders began their first summit since the start of the COVIID-19 pandemic, aiming to agree to a budget of 1.07 trillion euros, for the next seven years, as well as 750 billion euros, the recovery fund, which would include 500 billion euros in grants and 250 billion euros in loans to EU countries..
