Hagi, one of the five most important pillars and practices in Islam and a duty to Muslims who are physically capable of carrying out at least once in life, usually makes up one of the world's largest religious gatherings of some 2.5 million people going down to the city from around the world.
But this year turnout has been limited to only 10,000 people, as authorities are targeting the search for the situation in Covid-19, writes The Guardian, translation into Albanian Periscopi.
The disease has already infected more than 270 thousand people in Saudi Arabia, putting it 20th in the world for the number of confirmed cases.
“There are no security-related concerns on this pilgrimage, but (the default) is to protect pilgrims from the danger of pandemic,” said Khalid bin Charles al-Harbi, the director of public security in this country.
Pilgrims will be required to wear masks and maintain social distance during religious rites carried out over five days in Mecca and its suburbs in western Saudi Arabia. /Periscope
