The disease has already infected more than 270 thousand people in Saudi Arabia, putting it 20th in the world for the number of confirmed cases.
“There are no security-related concerns on this pilgrimage, but (the default) is to protect pilgrims from the danger of pandemic,” said Khalid bin Charles al-Harbi, the director of public security in this country.
Pilgrims will be required to wear masks and maintain social distance during religious rites carried out over five days in Mecca and its suburbs in western Saudi Arabia. /Periscope
