Businesses in the country today have the deadline for declaration and tax payment for this year's second quarter (TM2). Despite the pandemic and the financial difficulties some companies have, they will be fined by law if they fail to comply with these legal terms.
Kosovo Tax Administration Director Ilir Murtezaj, in an interview for Kosovo Press said they do not have and are not expected to have another decision to postpone tax payments statements.
Director Murtezaj says that until yesterday there have been no large number of those businesses that have declared and paid, however, according to him the trend has been almost similar to the same period last year.
“Now we no longer have the next decision to postpone tax payment statements and regular deadlines are such, which now on 15 July the last deadline for statements and payment or advance payment for three-month tranches for corporate tax and personal income taxes. Businesses alone are reported on this reality. We believe and hope that all businesses will respond to the legal requirements to declare and pay with the aim of avoiding the punishments which the system will automatically apply if by July 15th, at 24:00, they do not declare and pay taxes as required by law”, Murtezaj stressed.
The ATK director expects businesses to respond positively to statements and payments, while adding that companies that have financial difficulties can apply for payment deals with installments, as they cannot even free businesses from taxes.
Our “expectations are that businesses will respond positively to tax statements, given of course the financial difficulties they have and the creation of such a situation, where we can say an economic friend because of Ovid-19 and certainly have difficulty paying, but even in these cases the law creates opportunities that all businesses that have financial difficulties to declare tax obligations and can simultaneously submit the request for payment entry with tranche”, he says.
Murtezaj has said some businesses have filed demands to delay taxes, but there is no law and decision as if for the past two times the decision was made by the former finance minister for deadline extensions. Murtezai: No bill to delay payment deadlines is expected
We have had no decisions and no deadline extension law. From the information I have, there is not expected to be any law that will enable the extension of payment schedules and tax statements. This is up to these moments and at least for postponement there will certainly be no”, Murtezaj points out.
While, according to the director, the circulation of businesses during the pandemic has dropped about 700m euros.
Otherwise, due to the Corona virus during the months of March and April, there have been two decisions of extending deadlines for statements and payment of all types of taxes by May 15th. For the payment of three months, however, the three-month monthly tranches for corporate taxes and personal income taxes were extended until June 30th.
