After leaving the prosecution, Thaci said he has given his testimony and that he expects the prosecutor and the judge to professionally decide on his testimony.
Journalists were interested in whether the president was questioned about alleged crimes in the so-called yellow house and post-war crimes, but Thaci said he was not asked about these cases by the prosecutor.
“Tonight I have no right to speak about any information about my testimony for four days, but about your question that you posed, until today I have not been asked about such claims in any case. Again, such claims have not been submitted to my address for this period”, Thaci said.
Before reporters, President Thaci stressed that before the prosecutor of the Specialised Chambers for four days, he has had the opportunity to provide clarifications to all issues related to his activity during the war period.
I've been trying to explain and provide information on my role, my responsibilities during the war, this period covering the Special Court's mandate. Despite the fact that my testimony has lasted too long, I consider that we have had productive sessions”.
Now it is up to the prosecutor and the judge to assess my testimony impartially and with open mind. If they do such a thing professionally, impartially and fairly, they could easily come to the conclusion that I did not commit any kind of crime or alleged wrongdoing”, Thaci added.
According to him, the Kosovo Liberation Army's war has been fair because it was a freedom struggle, and precisely it was right, he stressed, Kosovo had the support of the democratic world, the United States of America, the European Union and NATO.
“Precisely, efforts to rewrite, highlight history, attempts to tarnish our fair fight are also attempts to tarnish NATO's humanitarian intervention in Kosovo. But our painful and proud truth is as pure as tears, and no one can change our history. She's right, she's clean, and we're proud of it”, he said.
Otherwise, Thaci has finished interviewing at the same time that in Brussels after 20 months, Kosovo dialogue has been held ʹ Serbia.
European officials have this time sent the invitation to continue the dialogue to Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti, while the Serbian side represents President Aleksandar Vuciq.
Thaci has been invited to The Hague after the Specialised Prosecutor's Office has announced last month that, on April 24th, it has filed an indictment for war crimes and crimes against humanity against him, against Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Kadri Veselini, and some others whose names have not been made public.
In a media communiqué, the Specialised Prosecutor's Office claims that “hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini and other suspects have been prosecuted responsible for approximately 100 illegal killings. The crimes presented in the indictment include hundreds of identified Albanian, Serbian and Roma victims of Kosovo and political opponents”.
This is the first time that the public knows that one person has been invited for an interview, since against this person has already filed charges of examination. However, it is not known where Thaci is invited to this interview.
The contents of the indictment are confidential until the judge confirms them. The primary procedure judge has a maximum of six months, from April, to confirm or reject the charges.
Based on the Procedure and Tests Adjust before Specialised Chambers, the judge of the preliminary procedure and the specialised prosecutor can meet during the investigation and before the indictment is confirmed.
The judge may request or allow the specialised prosecutor to hand in additional material in support of any charges or all charges; to ask the specialised prosecutor to review the indictment with the intention of providing more details about any of the charges, and concrete actions of the suspect, or to enable legal accuracy, or more clarity in presenting the charges; or to ask the specialised prosecutor to reduce the number of charges or reduce the framework of the charges.
As a result of this review, the judge of the preliminary procedure confirms or rejects, or in part, the accusations, in a rational decision. With any charges of the indictment confirmed, the suspect becomes accused and the trial judge of the preliminary procedure could issue a warrant or a warrant.
The indictment is made public after its confirmation, and under extraordinary circumstances, if the prosecutor has a valid reason before confirmation, the judge can, for security reasons, prevent the defendant's escape, issued a warrant for the provisional failure to reveal the indictment. The Act will be published no later than the accused's first appearance before the court.
On June 29th, Thaci stated that if the prosecution's indictment against him is confirmed, then he will immediately resign from the president's position.
The Kosovo Court, composed of Specialised Chambers and the Specialised Prosecutor's Office in The Hague, has been formed with the insistence of the international community, with constitutional changes from the Kosovo Assembly.
The court was founded after the 2011 Council of Europe report, in which Swiss Senator Dick Marty speaks of alleged crimes “members of the Kosovo Liberation Army to ethnic minorities and political rivals“, from January 1998 until December 2000.
