Today, the German Chancellor celebrates its 66th anniversary and still celebrates its birthday and at the EU summit, which is being held in Brussels.
The leader of the EU's most powerful country appeared pessimistic when she arrived at a meeting with other EU leaders, doubting whether they would be able to overcome their deep differences to approve a multibillion-dollar plan to recover European economies from the Framework crisis.
“I expect very, very difficult negotiations,” the Chancellor declared.
French President Emmanuel Macron presented the Chancellor with a bottle of white Burgundy wine.
Merkel has received gifts from other EU leaders, but it is still uncertain whether they will eventually donate the satisfaction she would receive if an agreement on the future EU budget of 1 trillion and the creation of a new recovery fund of 750 billion euros is reached.
