“I expect very, very difficult negotiations,” the Chancellor declared.
French President Emmanuel Macron presented the Chancellor with a bottle of white Burgundy wine.
Merkel has received gifts from other EU leaders, but it is still uncertain whether they will eventually donate the satisfaction she would receive if an agreement on the future EU budget of 1 trillion and the creation of a new recovery fund of 750 billion euros is reached.
