So Borell has said in a writing in which he has confessed to the atmosphere within the Kosovo-Serbia meeting in Brussels.
We spent the entire afternoon and early evening hours in intensive discussions with both partners. These have not been easy discussions. The topics like missing and displaced persons are extremely emotional issues and are an essential part of reconciliation”, Borell says.
He has also indicated that economic co-operation between the two countries has been discussed at the meeting.
This for me is the future of reports between Kosovo and Serbia. They belong to the same region and are traveling to the same destination - Europe”, EU High Representative Josep Borell has added further.
He says that in the future, people, capital and goods should move freely.
“They must also work on developing their economy and infrastructure. This is for two-way profit, and the EU has made a lot of effort to establish a framework for such co-operation”, the Spanish points out, Express newspaper reports.
The negotiator says the EU's work with Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq and Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hotin, has only begun.
In writing, Borell also indicated that there have been differences between Kosovo's prime minister and Serbia's president, however, says he is impressed by the fact that both sides have expressed readiness to continue the dialogue.
We asked them to send their teams in next week, so we'd lose time”, Borell indicated.
He has also indicated that in September there will be the next Hoti-Vucciq meeting in Brussels.
I expect to work with them and am very happy that we can rely on EU Special Representative Miroslav Lajcak's long diplomatic experience for this complicated task. We have much to achieve together for the benefit of Serbia, Kosovo and the European Union”, said Borell
EU High Representative also thanked France's President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel for supporting dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina by organising the Paris Summit.
“They gave the final impetus to the process to start again, thank you!”, said Borell.
Among other things, he says he has made it known from the beginning that Kosovo-Serbia dialogue and the Western Balkans will be one of his top priorities.
