Senior Kosovo Post officials today met with the finance and Transfers grant, Hykmete Bajrami and Kosovo Tax Administration General Director Ilir Murtezaj, which resulted in confirmation of the unblocking of Kosovo Post bank accounts.
At this joint meeting, they discussed forms of finding the real possibility of carrying out Kosovo's financial obligations to the ATK, through a reprogram of the debt, which would include the immediate unlocking of bank accounts.
“Also, the two top Kosovo Post officials, along with the representative of the Labour Union, Bujar Shala, also met with Economy and Environment Minister Blerim Redi, with whom they talked about the operation of the company, about the problems and challenges of confronting it during the period of COVID-19. The purpose of these meetings was to seek support from Kosovo's Government as Kosovo Post shareholder, which during this time has serious financial problems, with the decline in revenues due to the pandemic, the increase in debt to the ATK, which had blocked Kosovo Post bank accounts yesterday. They demonstrated their sorrows, which Kosovo Post is losing financially from the Universal Postal Service that is regularly performing as the legal obligation it has, while failing to be repaid by the Kosovo government. The government's written request for a return of debt worth about 5m euros was also filed to ensure the company's operation and functionality. These meetings were quite friendly, resulting in confirmation this afternoon of the unblocking of Kosovo Post bank accounts, while we also hope to realise the two ministers' promises in supporting the Kosovo Post in overcoming joint challenges”, the report said.
