Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq met this afternoon with the European Union's special representative for dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajcak.
“Lajcak can guarantee objective and impartiality in the process. The topics are painful for us, but compromise solutions can never be easy for Serbia,” said after the meeting.
He added that the dialogue process is expected to continue in July and that it is more important to discuss meeting Brussels' agreements.
“Of course, we will not have light days, there will be no easy issues for Serbia, but I hope that we will manage to protect our vital and national interests,” Vuciq said, adding that dialogue does not make sense if only one party participates.
“We are open for talks, but this is the thing we ask from the other side, not to hand over to us a sign of requests that cannot be met before any conversation,” said Vuciq.
While, Lajcak said Serbia's path towards the EU is closely linked to dialogue.
He said they would propose a comprehensive agreement that would resolve all outstanding issues, such as economic and regional ones.
When the dialogue ends, there should be no questions,” said Lajcak.
