According to him, no asylum seekers have so far been infected with coronarys.
We have made sure that everyone is protected from danger of infection through providing needed equipment, providing needed information about protection from pandemic, and providing educational services during months of isolation. We think that the fact that there is no one infected with the COVIID-19 virus is evidence of our unspoiled work and our institutional care for refugees and asylum seekers”, Veliu said.
Today it is the World Day of Refugees, days that our people must remember even because of our still fresh history and experience. So on this day, we express solidarity and co-operation with the dangers, difficulties, and problems facing refugees worldwide. This solidarity for refugees and displaced persons is even more pronounced when considered that the number of displaced persons is about 79.5 million, a record never before seen so far.
Institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, and in particular the Ministry of Internal Affairs has worked and continues to work daily together with local institutions, UNNHCR, its partner organisations and other international organisations so that we can together enable asylum seekers and refugees to receive a dignified and fair treatment.
In this direction, we have drafted legislation that is in line with international and regional standards that guarantee the freedoms and rights of refugees and asylum seekers. Proper structures and mechanisms have also been created that enable proper implementation of legislation, enabling asylum seekers and refugees to enjoy their rights.
Even at this time of pandemic with COVID-19, our treatment for asylum seekers and migrants to the Republic of Kosovo was high. We have made sure that everyone is protected from danger of infection through providing needed equipment, providing needed information about protection from pandemic, and providing educational services during the months of isolation. We think that the fact that there is no one infected with the COVID-19 virus is evidence of our unspoiled work and our institutional care for refugees and asylum seekers.
