Switzerland's new ambassador to Kosovo, Jean-Hubert Lebet, has made it clear that the Swiss state supports dialogue with Serbia, which is led by the European Union.
According to him, the inclusion of other acts, alluding to the United States of America, is welcome, but as he pointed out, dialogue is the issue of Europe and it is up to European states to resolve it.
“In the spirit of recent developments we have had that even acts of others are helping the process, they can contribute, but all must understand that for European problems and must be resolved Europeans so this process has the support of all EU member states or others who are not EU members, such as Switzerland”, said Ambassador Lebet.
In the discussion, he is organised by the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI), with the subject “which is the platform of the Government of Kosovo in dialogue with Serbia?”, has said that, normalisation of Kosovo-Serbia relations is European and that Switzerland supports such dialogue.
According to him, Kosovo and Serbia should be ready to resume dialogue.
“Normising relations between Kosovo and Serbia is a European issue, so we support the dialogue mediated by the European Union, as it is mandated by the United Nations. Kosovo by working with the European Union can influence the process of dialogue by participating in the creation of scheme and sustainability. The results of earlier dialogue under the EU leadership are quite mixed. Since the middle year of 2019 has been even more discriminating with dialogue. The EU is now functional and Mr. Lajcak came in yesterday and we have now begun discussions with him, but with the important thing is the sincere will of Kosovo and Serbia to normalise relations. We hope that Kosovo and Serbia resume dialogue on the basis of that, so to normalise relations”, Ambassador Lebet stressed.
