The chief epidemiologist in Sweden, Anders Tegnel, who is behind the country's strategy not to close because of the coronary pandemic, acknowledged that more restrictions must have been imposed in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
For months, Tegnel defended his approach as more stable, while criticising other countries for their highly restrictive measures.
But today, in an interview with Swedish Radio, he agreed that many people in Sweden died, broadcast the BBC.
If we face the same disease now, with what we know today, I think we'd be somewhere between what Sweden did and what the rest of the world did,” said Tegnel.
Sweden has the highest death rate per capita of coronary population in the world. More than 4,400 people died, while neighbouring Norway, Denmark, and Finland each have fewer than 600 victims.
