US reduces troop presence in Iraq

The United States of America will continue to reduce the presence of their troops from Iraq and improve the status of Iraqi government forces, the US State Department said.

The retreat will take place in the coming months.

The U.S. points out that ʹas requires, nor intends to seek permanent bases or a permanent presence in Iraq”.

The Iraqi government is committed to protecting international coalition personnel and Iraqi structures in accordance with international law and specific agreements on their presence based on how both countries will decide”, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Qaeda said.
