Six people were injured during an incident in Glasgou, Scotland.
Police named the incident “grave” but said it is not treating it as terrorism.
The BBC reported that two people were thought to have been killed with a knife in an facility currently being used to house asylum seekers.
Assistant Scotland Police Chief Steve Johnson, said the male suspect was shot dead by police.
“Six other persons are in the hospital for treatment, including a police officer, who is in a critical but stable situation”, he said in a statement.
Johnson also said that “at this time we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this” incident.
A witness to the event told Sky News that she had seen some people covered in blood being treated by emergency services.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson reacted by saying that he was “most disappointed by the terrible” incident and that his thoughts are with their victims and families.
Last week, three people were stabbed to death in a park in the southeastern city of England, Reding. Police said they were treating that incident as terrorism.
