“Many countries are now experiencing difficulties in getting oxygen concentrations,” said O general director Tedros Adhanom Ghebraesus' BSH.
The request is currently exceeding supply”, he added.
The health agency has acquired 14,000 oxygen concentrations from producers and plans to send them to 120 countries in the coming weeks, Tedros said.
Another 170,000 concentrations worth about $100m will be potentially available over the next six months.
Global cases exceeded 9.4 million on Thursday, with WHO saying global infections are expected to exceed 10 million by the end of the week. At least 480,000 people have died so far.
