Government Waiting Airport to Start Flights

The phase of easing measures towards COVID-19 in Kosovo has started.
So far, nests, cafes, restaurants, shopping malls, sports events, museums, art galleries, urban transportation, and interurban transport have been opened, and the restriction measure has been removed.
Currently, citizens have access to circulation 24 hours a day inside and outside Kosovo's territory.
But air transport has not been opened.
Pristina Airport spokeswoman “Adem Jashari”, Valentina Gara, told Express they are ready to start work.
“We are ready with all human and technical capacities and based on the European Aviation Security Agency, as well as the regulations of other relevant authorities to provide services to airlines and travellers both at the start and at the return of”, Gara has said.
But, Gara has indicated that to start air transport work, she needs green light from the Kosovo government.
The next few days, we expect to have a decision by the Government of Kosovo to allow them and return to full operations”, Gara said.
Commercial air transport has been allowed even during the time of pandemic, as far as flights to return to Kosovo are concerned, demand should be made at the Kosovo Embassy in the respective countries.
Meanwhile, Infrastructure and Environment Minister Arban Abrashi said Sunday at the Government meeting he will launch consultations with relevant authorities for opening the airport.
And Tuesday he said he expects flights to Pristina International Airport “Adem Jashari” to resume within ten days.
Abrashi told Radio Free Europe that he has held meetings with all institutions, including the Civil Aviation Authority, Pristina International Airport “Adem Jashari”, airlines and the Health Ministry, for the fastest return of flights.
“We are striving that within ten days complete re-launching of international flights, fully complying with safety measures for the prevention of COVIID-19 [the wrestling causing Coronavirus], released by the European Aviation Security Agency (EASA) and other guidelines by the Health Ministry”, Abras said.
