The former head of the Constitutional Court has run for ombudsman.
Kosovo's constitution says the ombudsman has the right to select every citizen of Kosovo -- <x0m highly educated, character and moral -- honest, experienced and distinguished knowledge in the field of human rights”
University professor Enver Hasani is aiming for the next five years to be ombudsman.
Professor Hasani himself has confirmed the news about Gazeta Express. According to a Parliament report, the competition for this institution was closed on Monday last Monday.
The Hasan, who is aiming to lead the ombudsman institution, has said that it now remains MPs as to whether they will vote against him or not.
He says he has expectations to run this institution, but adds that the same expectations may have others reaching out for it.
Under the Constitution, the Ombudsman elects the Kosovo Assembly, with the majority of votes of all its deputies, for a five-year term, without a re-election right.
The current ombudsman, Hilmi Jashar, is at the end of his term. He was elected to this position in early July 2015.
