Kosovo Election Commission Chairman (KQZ) Valdete Daka has talked about holding the process of voting Serbia's parliamentary elections on Kosovo territory.
Daka in the special edition of the Kosovo Clan has declared that the CEC has no competence for this, adding that they only organise elections.
“We as the CEC organise elections in Kosovo, we are the institution that organises the elections which are announced in the Republic of Kosovo. We for elections held in Serbia and those that are thus allowed to be held in Kosovo by the Government, have no competence, I had given no comment it is the government's decision”.
We like the CEC don't have any kind of compass at all, those choices for us don't exist, we don't know the modalities, nor are we at all in the range of this”.
Asked whether it would contradict holding Serbia's elections in Kosovo, with the postponement of the election date in Podujevo and North Mitrovica due to Covid-19, Daka said this decision to postpone elections in the country's two cities is handed over by the president's office.
This is also the decision made by another institution that is the president's office, which decides when the elections will be announced, and of course after the estimates that decision has been made. So, we're the institution that's just organizing elections”.
Daka declared that when the decision to hold elections in these two municipalities will be handed down they are ready.
Our constitutional obligation, of course, is to organise elections when they are announced as soon as we have a decree from the president we will start preparations for the elections for these two municipalities”.
It also said it would organise parliamentary elections whenever the decree is announced by the president.
